What are the pros and cons of white gold vs sterling silver for a diamond ring?

I want a sterling silver or white gold ring…which metal is better and why?

Actually white gold is not anymore expensive than yellow gold. They are both measured by their percentages of pure gold within the ring. Platnium is very expensive, but gold is gold regardless if it is yellow, white or pink. There are varying qualities of gold.

Silver is softer and will show more wear over time. I have tons of silver and love it, but for a ring, I’d go with gold. With gold, the higher the karat the higher percentage of pure gold within, so the softer it is. 14-18k is good. I have some 24k pieces and they are pretty scratched up because of the softness of the metal.
